I don't know who needs to hear this, but a day off is not a vacation.

Doing laundry in peace is not a vacation. Going to Target alone is not a vacation. Cleaning the house, catching up on errands, answering emails from the couch, or spending an entire Sunday trying to get your life together before Monday?

Not. A. Vacation.

I mean an actual, pack-a-bag-and-leave-your-normal-life-for-a-few-days vacation.

And lately, I really want one.

There's Just One Little Problem...

Vacations cost money. 😂

And I'm currently in the phase of building my dream life—not pretending I already have it.

That's actually kind of the whole point of this blog.

I want to document the things I want before I have them. Research them. Plan them. Figure out what they cost. Find ways to make the extra money for them. And eventually, hopefully, come back here and show you that I actually did the damn thing.

Which brings me to my latest completely unnecessary-but-I-absolutely-want-it purchase:

This luggage set.

It's around $400.

For luggage.

I KNOW. 😂

But look at it.

I'm not taking $400 out of my regular budget and buying luggage right now. I have real-life things that need my money more than my imaginary future vacation does.

So I'm doing something different.

I'm Starting a Vacation Fund

First goal: $400 for the luggage.

Instead of buying it now, I'm going to see if I can make enough extra money through the content I'm already creating to pay for it.

Affiliate commissions. Creator income. Travel content. Whatever this little corner of the internet manages to generate.

I'm starting at:

Luggage Fund: $0 / $400

When that reaches $400, I'm ordering the luggage.

Then we move on to actually funding somewhere to take it.

Maybe That's the Point

I think sometimes we look at the life we want and assume we're supposed to already be able to afford the whole thing.

The vacation. The luggage. The hotel. The experiences. The nice dinner. All of it.

And when we can't, we just...don't do any of it.

I'm trying something else.

I'm going to build it piece by piece.

Today, it's a luggage set sitting on my wish list.

Eventually, I want to be packing that luggage for one of the trips I've spent entirely too much time daydreaming about.

And when I finally do?

You'll know exactly how I got there.
