You THINK You’re Clean… Until You Use This

The Medicube products that sent me down an exfoliation rabbit hole

I shower every day.

I use body wash. I scrub. I wash my hands approximately 47,000 times a day. 😂 By all reasonable definitions, I am a clean person.

So explain to me why skincare has recently made me question EVERYTHING.

It actually started with my hands.

There were certain areas—especially around the little cracks, creases and stubborn spots—that never looked completely clean to me. I could wash them. Scrub them. Wash them again. They were obviously clean, but there would still be this dull, grey-ish look in some of those little crevices.

Then I started doing skincare consistently.

And strangely enough, the products I was using on my face started making my hands look cleaner, too.

That's when the lightbulb went off.

Maybe this isn't a washing problem.

Soap is really good at doing what soap is supposed to do: removing things like oils, sweat and grime from your skin.

But washing your skin and exfoliating your skin aren't exactly the same thing.

Dead skin cells naturally accumulate on the surface of our skin, and regular cleansing doesn't necessarily remove all of that buildup.

Which sent me down an internet rabbit hole.

Because naturally, my next thought was:

Okay... then what exists specifically for getting all of THAT off your body?

And THAT is how I found Medicube.

The Medicube Peel Shot rabbit hole

I found several Medicube products on Amazon that immediately caught my attention, including:

Medicube Red Body Peeling Shot

This was the one that really got me.

It's an exfoliating body product featuring AHA and BHA, which are chemical exfoliants. Instead of relying solely on physically scrubbing your skin harder and harder, exfoliating acids help loosen/remove dead cells at the surface.

And frankly, the idea of letting chemistry do the work instead of scrubbing myself like I'm trying to remove paint sounds pretty appealing. 😂

Then I found...

Medicube Kojic Acid Turmeric Body Peel Shot

Now we're talking about more than exfoliation.

This one caught my attention because it's positioned toward body exfoliation and improving the appearance of dull or uneven-looking skin.

There are SO many places I immediately want to experiment with this.

Elbows.

Knees.

Ankles.

Those weird little areas around your feet.

And, obviously, my hands—because they're the entire reason I ended up in this rabbit hole to begin with.

And then there's the Medicube Peel Shot for pores

Medicube also makes a facial Peel Shot featuring hypochlorous acid.

I wouldn't lump this into exactly the same category as the body products because your face and body don't necessarily need the same treatment, and stronger isn't automatically better when it comes to skincare.

But naturally, once I discovered an entire Peel Shot family, I wanted to know what ALL OF THEM did.

This is how I end up with 36 browser tabs open.

But wait—is all that stuff actually DIRT?!

This is the part I think is really important.

You've probably seen exfoliation videos where somebody rubs a product onto their skin and suddenly all this grey-ish stuff starts rolling off.

It looks absolutely horrifying.

And it's very easy to look at it and think:

OH MY GOD. THAT PERSON HAS BEEN CARRYING AROUND SIX YEARS OF DIRT.

😂

That's not necessarily what's happening.

What you're seeing can be a mixture of dead surface skin cells, oils, leftover product/buildup and the exfoliating product itself pilling or clumping as it's rubbed across the skin.

So no, I'm not claiming Medicube is going to excavate dirt from 2017 out of your elbow.

And if you've been showering regularly, you probably aren't secretly filthy.

Thank God.

But that doesn't mean exfoliation can't make a very noticeable difference in how smooth, bright and clean-looking your skin appears.

And THAT is what I'm interested in.

Why I actually want to try it

I'm not writing this pretending I've already tested these products.

I haven't yet.

I found them, became fascinated by them, researched what they were supposed to do, and now I want to actually put them to the test.

Because if my facial skincare accidentally improved the appearance of my hands, I REALLY want to see what happens when I use something specifically formulated to exfoliate the body.

And I'm taking pictures.

Because obviously.

If something disgusting and fascinating rolls off my skin, we are experiencing this as a community. 😂

So... is Medicube Peel Shot worth it?

I don't know yet.

And I'm perfectly okay saying that.

Right now, I'm intrigued enough that I think it's worth trying. But there's a huge difference between “this formula sounds promising” and “I personally used this and it worked.”

So consider this Part One.

I'm ordering it.

I'm trying it.

I'm taking before-and-after pictures.

And then I'm coming back here to update this post with what ACTUALLY happened.

Because if I'm going to tell you to spend your money on something, I want to know whether I'd spend mine on it again.
